James Allen

James advises entrepreneurs, investors, and companies in a variety of corporate and securities transactions. His practice focuses on general corporate counseling, venture capital and growth equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and employment law matters. James represents clients from internet and software technology companies to venture capital firms and investor groups.

James holds a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. As a law student, James was awarded Moot Court Competition Honors, served as a faculty research assistant, and clerked for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. Prior to attending law school, James worked in business strategy, process improvement, and human resources roles for a Fortune 200 privately owned company.

James holds an M.B.A. from the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona. James served as the Student Body President of the University of Arizona and on the board of directors for the Marshall Foundation which distributes funds annually to Southern Arizona charitable and educational institutions.

James serves as a mentor for Startup Legal Garage at the University of California, Hastings. In this capacity, James works with law students and entrepreneurs on entity formations, equity matters, and financing strategies.
